Step Out Walk benefits diabetes research, education, management, and prevention, supporting the ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

“Nearly 820,000 adults in Tennessee are living with diabetes—that is 12.7% of the adult population. Our Step Out Walk is a chance to bring people together for a shared cause, while raising critical funds and taking meaningful steps toward ending diabetes. We are excited to host our first walk at oneC1TY in Nashville and extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous sponsors for making this possible,” said Sarah Schmitz, the ADA’s executive director in the Heartland.

This year’s event will include:

  • Live DJ entertainment
  • Kids’ zone featuring fun, family-friendly activities
  • Wellness village with interactive resources
  • Diabetes resources and expert guidance on prevention and management

Diabetes isn't just a disease—it's an epidemic—with over 40 million Americans living with diabetes and its devastating consequences. Every year, an estimated 56,000 adults in Tennessee are diagnosed with diabetes.

Events like Step Out play a vital role in increasing awareness, connecting communities, contributing to diabetes prevention and management, and supporting the ADA’s vision of a life free of diabetes and all its burdens.

This year’s Step Out Walk is sponsored by Wellpoint.
