Oklahomans are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as thousands of people suffer from the disease, and many others may have diabetes and don't know it! It is estimated that one out of every three children born after 2000 in the United States will be directly affected by diabetes.
That is why the American Diabetes Association Oklahoma office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease.

Although there are many similarities between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the cause of each is very different. And the treatment is usually quite different, too. Some people, especially adults who are newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, may have symptoms similar to type 2 diabetes and this overlap between types can be confusing.
