This year’s event will include:

  • Lively music and performances
  • A kids’ zone with fun activities
  • A wellness village
  • Diabetes resources and expert advice on management and prevention

Diabetes isn't just a disease—it's an epidemic—with over 40 million Americans living with diabetes and its devastating consequences. Approximately 1,061,000 adults in North Carolina, or 10.8% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Every year, an estimated 53,000 adults in North Carolina are diagnosed with diabetes. Costs for diabetes in North Carolina are estimated to be $11.2 billion each year. In North Carolina, over 1 in 10 adults lives with diabetes, a condition that not only impacts individuals, but also places a strain on families, health care systems, and employers.

Events like Step Out play a vital role in increasing awareness, connecting communities, contributing to diabetes prevention and management, and supporting the ADA’s vision of a life free of diabetes and all its burdens.

This year’s Step Out Walk is sponsored by Aetna®, a CVS Health® company.
