“As spring brings a renewed sense of energy and connection, Tour de Cure on May 2 is a powerful opportunity for our community to come together to support the over 155 million Americans with diabetes or prediabetes.. Every rider, volunteer, and supporter plays a vital role in advancing critical research and local programs—because showing up truly makes a difference. I hope to see you at the park,” said Meagan Darrow, the ADA’s executive director in the Pacific Northwest market.

Nationwide, over 40 million people have diabetes, and every 21 seconds, someone new is diagnosed. Approximately 596,000 adults in Washington, or 8.6% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Every year, an estimated 45,000 adults in Washington are diagnosed with diabetes.

By joining Tour de Cure, 168 participants are helping the ADA increase diabetes awareness, provide vital programs, fund lifesaving research, and work toward a cure.

This year’s event will include:

  • Morning yogurt and coffee from Chobani, La Colombe, and Mercurys Coffee
  • A Fun Zone with activities hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (Alderwood Club) and KidStrong Bothell
  • Live jazz music to keep the energy going throughout the day
  • Complimentary lunch for all participants from Yummy Gyros, plus a beer garden to close out the day with celebratory beverages
