Cycling event raises funds to support diabetes research, local programming, and advocacy efforts
On April 25, the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) will host its 2026 Tour de Cure®: Mid-Atlantic. This cycling fundraiser will bring together individuals, families, organizations, and corporations for a ride in support of people living with diabetes.

“We are excited to bring together close to 1,000 Tour participants, supporters, and volunteers on April 25 to celebrate and support those living with diabetes, as well as to inspire the communities we serve to come out and get moving for their own health and this important cause,” said Deanie Eldridge, the ADA’s executive director in the Mid-Atlantic market.
Nationwide, over 40 million people have diabetes, and every 21 seconds, someone new is diagnosed. Approximately 817,000 adults in Virginia, or 10.3% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Every year, an estimated 52,000 adults in Virginia are diagnosed with diabetes.
By joining Tour de Cure: Mid-Atlantic, participants are helping the ADA increase diabetes awareness, provide vital programs, fund lifesaving research, and work toward a cure.
This year’s event will include:
- Champion’s tent with massage therapists, Tour de Cure swag, personalized Champion sign, and Champion medals
- Living Red tent with Tour de Cure swag, special snacks and drinks, and a personalized Red Rider® sign
- 360-degree photo, with additional photo opportunities on-site
- Games and fun, including music bingo, line dancing, and lawn games
- Post-ride stretch
- Breakfast and coffee
- Post-ride meal and celebratory beverages
- Exhibitor village
- Music
